UNIT 9 - Introduction to Visual Language in Art and Design

Showreel

This is a showreel I've created in order to present the work that I've created throughout this year, I created it using Sony Vegas Pro 13.

Through the next year I would like to continue my Level 3 Diploma in order to learn new techniques in animation. This will also allow me to accumulate enough UCAS points in order to move on onto a university course..

I would say my biggest weakness is my drawing ability as I've not had much practice in the past, this mawy lead to some difficulties in the future when tasked with sketching/designing a model before actually creating it.

In two years I would like to attend to a university which offers an animation and game design course, the university that I would like to attend especially is the University of Hertfordshire which is known for its superb quality of work that is available online for people to see. The university is also an official partner of the Unreal Engine which is one of the top gaming engines in the industry.

This is one of the showreels from the University of Hertfordshire:

Overview for the University of Hertfordshire:

The University of Hertfordshire is a public research university in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. The university is based largely in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. The University of Hertfordshire is recognised as one Hertfordshire's largest employers with over 2,700 staff and a turnover of more than £235 million. The University of Hertfordshire is recognised for its excellent teaching and focus on employability of its graduates, this is great for me because there’s a huge issues with University graduates finishing their degree then find it hard to find a employment and if Hertfordshire can aid me in anyway it would make It a lot easier and reliable.

The two courses that the university offers, which are within my interests, are:

My dream job is to work at Blizzard Entertainment, which is situated in California, as I've been a fan of the company's work for many years. Some of their best games are : The Warcraft Series, Starcraft, Hearthstone and Overwatch. All of those sold millions of copies worldwide and include some of the best art and storytelling available on the market.

I've already researched ways to awpply for a job at blizzaird and one way includes applying through this link htat is available on their official website: http://eu.blizzard.com/en-gb/company/careers/index.html

At the end of the school year we were invited to attend a showreel that showed off the work of the Animation Year 1 and 2 classes in order to attract any potential new students, after the showreel we were tasked with evaluating how it went and so the following text will be just that. Overall I believe that the showreel was sucessful in presenting our work to nay visitors that visited however the small demonstration that was available on the projector was not very engaging at it was hard to gather any information from it. In the end, in order to capture someone's interest with our course the person viewing the showreel must have been interested in Animation & Game Design beforehand as there was no real 'hook' factor present that would attreact new interests but regardless the showreel did a good job at showing off everyone's work.
